Invasion of Poland
On 1st September 1939, Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany for German lebensraum (living space). World War 2 started two days later and on 17th September, the USSR (Russia) also invaded. After being annexed, 12 concentration camps like Auschwitz were set up to not only exterminate Jews but also Poles and Romani (or known by their politically incorrect term gypsies). It wasn't the first time that Poland was annexed because of Germany and Russia.
The announcement on Komunikat 1939
The Polish people were first alerted to the invasion on radio by the Polish government. The following is a transcript of the broadcast that horrified the nation.
