Bloody Sunday 1920

One of Ireland's many Bloody Sundays, this event which took place during the Irish War of Independence was one of the most violent days of the Irish War of Independence. It started on 21st November 1920 when Michael Collins' squad killed 12 people in Dublin. In response, the Black and Tans (so called because their improper uniform consisted of some army uniform pieces in the colours black and tan) opened fire into a crowd at football match in Croke Park which saw the deaths of 13 people including Michael Hogan whom would later have a stand at the stadium named after him. Later that evening, two IRA members were captured and killed at Dublin Castle at the British.
