On 10th April 1998, the Good Friday Agreement was signed in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It had preceded the Downing Street Declaration as a solution to most of the the 30 year long sectarian and political violence in Northern Ireland. It is called such as Good Friday fell on the day it was signed. 71.1% were in favour of the agreement which came into effect in December 1999.
