About the Author

ClaireBlue is the pen name for Claire Scully who was born on 16 August 2001 in Dublin, Ireland. Claire struggled with some of the assignments she had to do in school because she has Autism, Dyscalculia (maths was difficult) and Dyspraxia (PE was a difficult ordeal for her). However that didn't meant that she was good in school, especially History and Geography. Like most kids, Claire had an Ancient Egypt phase but now she has a Russian history phase.

Claire created Playground Of Nations after witnessing her classmates in her Leaving Cert history class struggle with comprehending the subjects on their course without the teacher resorting to referencing something the students are familiar with (Like having to mention dalmatians when talking about Italy wanting Dalmatia at the end of World War 1). 

It started off with a fact card on the Invasion of Poland (1939) which was then uploaded to ClaireBlue's Deviantart page on 1 August 2019 alongside fact cards on The Winter War and The Korean War and it went on from there. The logo was created in December 2019 and all fact cards were updated to have the logo and artist credits in July 2020. ClaireBlue even uploaded fact cards on her birthday! Fact cards Chernobyl Nuclear disaster, Vietnam War and Birth of Weimar Republic were uploaded on her 18th birthday while facts cards Why is Korea divided and Dissolution of Czechoslovakia were uploaded on her 19th birthday. 

Her maternal granddad Jack Flanagan (30 November 1918 - 17 January 1984) can be seen in a group photo on the first page of the Odlums Mill pages of the Pictures of Portlaoise website (fair haired man in the middle of the fourth row of the photo).
