Japanese Earthquake 2011 (Tōhoku)
On 11 March 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck of the east coast of Japan when the Pacific Plate was sub ducted by the Eurasian plate. The earthquake triggered a tsunami that had a varied height of 4 to 10 meters. It also caused significant damage to the Fukashima nuclear power plant which led to radiation leaks, which led to the area around it becoming unsafe for humans.
